Getting here
We’re so excited to welcome you to Brooklyn! If you’re flying in, there are three major airports that serve New York City: LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark.
LaGuardia Airport is the closest to Brooklyn, typically a 30 to 45-minute ride depending on traffic. You can grab a yellow cab, Uber/Lyft, or take the Q70 SBS bus to the subway and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound train.
JFK Airport is about 45 to 60 minutes from Brooklyn. You can take a yellow cab, call an Uber or Lyft from any terminal, or use public transportation by hopping on the AirTrain and transferring to the A or E subway lines into Brooklyn.
If you're flying into Newark Airport in New Jersey, expect about a 60 to 75-minute trip to Brooklyn. Taxis and rideshares are available from all terminals, but public transit is also an option—you can take the AirTrain to NJ Transit, connect at Penn Station, and ride the subway into Brooklyn.
If you're taking a yellow cab from any airport, always follow airport signs to the official taxi stand and never accept a ride from someone approaching you inside the terminal.
Getting around
Getting around Brooklyn and New York City is easy, even if it’s your first time visiting. The subway and bus system run by the MTA is extensive and reliable. You can tap a credit card or smart phone right on the turnstile or buy a MetroCard at the station.
Uber and Lyft are also widely available, making it simple to get to and from events or just explore the neighborhood. If you’ve never used Uber or Lyft before, ask Sam or Nicole for their referral code so that you can get discounted rates!
For navigating, apps like Google Maps and Citymapper are lifesavers and make it easy to plan your route in real time.
